Coffee Chat - Board Games --- do cards count?

Yay....   Tuesday ... Coffee Chat time!

This is one of my favorite spots of the week.....
Really easy.... Hop on over to my sister from another mother over at  Time out for Mom for her weekly coffee chat....this week's topic:

What were your favourite board games growing up? Do you still play?

I have so many fond memories of playing games as a child and then as an adult with my children (both when they were children and as adults).

I remember as a child being taught how to play dominoes by my Grandmother... she also taught me how to play Gin Rummy. Now both of these games require extensive concentration for the scoring mechanisms that go with them... and I learned those too.

Parchesi
was always one of our favorites (my brother's and mine)... but I do believe this game was remade as Sorry!!!! Which was one of my kid's favorites.

NOTHING can beat an old fashioned game of Chinese Checkers...

Were you any good at it?

Of course NO childhood is sane without these favorites:

I can hardly wait to play with my Grandchildren and of course Candyland!!

But the favorite in our house growing up was:

And then my children had to get their own versions:

But as adults we love Scattegories and new domino game we were introduced to: Chicken Foot.....

I still love a good old fashioned game night.....

Coffee Chat - someone else

Yay....   Tuesday ... Coffee Chat time!

This is one of my favorite spots of the week.....
Really easy.... Hop on over to my sister from another mother over at  Time out for Mom for her weekly coffee chat....this week's topic:

Not Myself These Days:  If you could live another person's life for a week, who would you choose?    Will it be the opposite sex?  A celebrity?   Or, make the prompt interesting: is it the cat's life for you?

If I could live another person's life for a week, it would have to be a younger version of myself. I would love to go back to a week when I was twenty and ENJOY it...rather than look back on that year longingly. I was living in a dorm --actually was an RA, had a gorgeous boyfriend, was studying history and living in Santa Barbara, CA ..... you know where the sun shines throughout the winter and having a tan is expected.  But rather than live in the moment I was a worry wart....about absolutely everything! and it was the first time I remember being a deep depression..... SO if I could back to that year and one week in it.... I think it would probably change the entire outcome of the rest of my life. (but then I wouldn't have my wonderful kids....) (or would I??)

Hop on over to Les's house to see what everyone else had to say...

Coffee Chat - Road Trip

OK... don't tell anyone..but I had 3 cups of coffee before 9AM!
This is one of my favorites spots of the week.....
Really easy.... Hop on over to my sister from another mother over at  Time out for Mom for her weekly coffee chat....this week's topic:

Road Trip!!  Where are you going?  You can take 3 people....who are they, and what are their responsibilities on the trip.

This is such an easy topic for me because my favorite three people in the world are my three kids... now getting them free from their spouses might not be such an easy task.

When they were younger, and I was a single mother, I decided to venture out on an adventure I could handle....so we got on a train and went to San Diego and went to Sea World..... wow...what a trip!  You know how you have those adventures that you constantly try to recreate? Well that was one of them...... and we have never been able to recreate it.

I did however try to recreate this moment (even though we did it 3 times) with a trip for my 50th birthday. I arranged a trip to Catalina Island and all 3 kids showed up, (we also had extras..but ok...) it was so much fun.

Now I am figuring out if we can do a Disney Cruise in about 3 years so that the grandchildren can have a good time (of course the adults will have a good time too!)

I think the only responsibilities each person has is to behave and have a good time!

Coffee Chat - I Spy Green

I have switched it up to coffee this week in order to really get things going with coffee chat!  This is one of my favorites spots of the week.....
Really easy.... Hop on over to my sister from another mother over at  Time out for Mom for her weekly coffee chat....this week's topic:

Let's Play I Spy.   I Spy with my little eye....something that is GREEN.
Some say Spring is just around the corner, so off you go to see what you can find.

As long as this is an "I Spy".... I decided to do a pictoral post today.....

First... I cannot help but post a picture of my lawn.... so which shade do you prefer???

and then there is the arrangement that has not begun to bloom where you see a LOT of green and then the arrangement where all you see if YELLOW

Thought I'd mix it up a bit with my newest addition to the yard... how long will this take to get full and bushy?

I was in the yard anyway and just had to snap this!!!
AND my favorite green thing to spy every morning..... this is my bedroom wall!!
Hope you decide to grab a cup of coffee and chat along with us!

Coffee Chat - what would you do?

got the hot tea in my new favorite mug and am joining my sis over at Time out for Mom for her weekly coffee chat....this week's topic:  Keep it, toss it, burn it, sell it
This week she is giving us a list to answer....

1.  old high school/alma mater tshirt
2.  love letter from old flame who broke your heart
3.  engagement ring -- from when you said "no"
4.  vinyl edition of what was "your song" - you can dowload from iTunes anyway

The only thing on this list I would even consider keeping would be my old high school/alma mater t-shirt... Actually I really wish I still had one from college...my favorite shirt was UCBS  (I went to UCSB)

Burn the love letters....who needs to see something that didn't work out???

I would have returned the engagement ring....so nothing to toss

And unfortunately I don't own a record player and could really use the extra cash.... sell the vinyl!
