I started Pondering with a Purpose because -- simply put -- I am a writer - - that is what I do (I just can't help myself)! And although I love following all the hops, I wanted to see if I could bring out some creativity in not only myself, but some of my blogger friends as well.

The rules are really easy:

1. Grab the Pondering with a Purpose Badge (in my sidebar)
2. Look at the week's prompt
3. Post something on your blog that relates to the prompt - it can be a story, a poem, a picture -- anything you want it to be.
4. Come back here and add the URL from your post to the linky list below.
5. Go check out the other bloggers who have added their links to the list.
6. AND most of all.... Have fun!

Today's prompt is: Knot

Isn't this a pretty knot? Have you ever tied two different colors together with knots to see what they make.... I do all the time... it is called crochet! or Macrame or even knitting .... all these ways to use knots in a pretty way.... but what about the knot in a tree...

Or the knot in your stomach (not to be confused with the butterflies that reside there)...

Now here is a new meaning.... a group of people is called a knot...
or to ravel or entangle.

I'd love to see what you do with this word. Leave me a comment, or link up a post... or better yet both!

pondering with a purpose - wind

Welcome to Pondering with a Purpose -

Today's prompt is: Wind

I actually picked this subject before the horrible tragedy in Oklahoma....

I love this word for so many reasons.... First there is the wind that blows through the trees or from the ocean to cool things down....

and then of course the wind that allows us to fly a kite or allow the clothes to dry on a clothesline

And then there is the way you have to wind a clock or an old-fashioned watch
But when I see that word I think of winding up a top and letting it go.....

But! I never thought of wind as in a wind instrument or as in: air that is blown or forced to produce a musical sound in singing or playing an instrument.

And then of course when I looked up the meaning of this word I couldn't help but add this definition: break wind, to expel gas from the stomach and bowels through the anus. (who says these things????)

I would love it if you left a comment or linked up a post or better yet, both!

Two Shoes Tuesday --- Beginning or Window

Josie is back with Two Shoes Tuesday.... Yippeeee!!!

this is the deal: There are two word prompts to choose from... you can use whichever one inspires you. You are not required to include them both. You do not have to include the prompt word in your post, but please use it as your theme. You are welcome to write a post for each prompt word, if you like. Posts unrelated to either word prompt will be deleted from the Mr. Linky list.

Your contribution must be in the form of  a poem, essay, or short story (fiction or non-fiction), and it must be a new piece - not something drawn from your other writings or archives.

This weeks prompt(s) are Beginning or Window...

When I was twenty six years old I got into a terrible car accident. I has hit head on by a drunk driver. I had a black eye and ended up taking weeks off of work. I just sat on the couch and stared out the window...but more importantly than that I came to know the man I had married several months earlier. He was home everyday (doing drugs) and he would just sleep on the couch... Oh My! What had I married?

When I sought help and asked the only person I trusted to come and get me out of that situation, the response was: "Marriage is hard. You need to work it out." And that was the beginning of the end of my self esteem, self confidence, ethical behaviors and so much more.

Three children later I decided it was time for a beginning of another kind. I have no idea where the strength came from (and in hindsight it is scarier than hell).... but my life began to look out of a different window.

Now.... twenty years I look out my window and I see a beautiful flower garden, a dog that I adore, and many many memories of good times. My self esteem has returned as well as my confidence.... although I still don't socialize and keep pretty much to myself and my children. However, I will be beginning a new chapter within the next year as I sell the home I have lived in for four years and move closer to children and grandchildren. After all who doesn't want to look out of their window and see themselves surrounded by family?

Today's prompt is: Leash

I actually have a list of words queued up for this prompt...but today I was walking Trixy..
.and I realized that the leash I was using on her has many meanings...obviously the first one is the one I was utilizing.... a leash on a dog. However I have seen people use a leash on their children... how do you feel about that?

But the other meanings of leash is to 'reel in' as in to leash in one's opinions or children (metaphorically).

I would love to open the topic this week to your feelings on using leashes....

Please post a comment, or link up or better yet.... both!

Today's prompt is: Skirt

I know this word has sooooo many meanings...obviously the one that came first in my mind is what I am wearing right now (and almost everyday I go to work!)

And then of course who could forget the old tree skirt???

Or how about skirting the subject.... evading it.... avoiding it.... you know....

But here are a few more I did not even know before today:

a small leather flap on each side of a saddle, covering the metal bar from which the stirrup hangs.

to remove low-grade wool and foreign matter from (the outer edge of fleece).

to lie on or along the border of

I would love to read your take on the word...leave me a comment or link up your post...or better yet... Both!

Today's prompt is: Handle

Have you ever thought about the fact that there are handles on doors... or are they knobs? or handles on cupboards... or are they knobs?

Also... Do you handle all the issues in your life?
Are you a handler (?) now that is a different approach to the word....
How about too much to handle... now that could mean good things or bad things... don't you suppose?

I handled my kids and now it could be said that they handle me.... Certainly as I get older they will be in charge of the handling of certain things.... like who handles the house? the car? the finances???

Seriously... this is one very complicated word.... don't you agree?

I'd love to read your comments, or your linked up post... or better yet... both!
